COLLECTION DESCRIPTION

Historical Note: Historical Note: Janet Leemon Hakala (1934-2018) was a trustee of the Historical Society of Boynton Beach, a member of the Boynton Beach Woman's Club, and an officer in the Order of the Eastern Star Iretta Sherman Chapter #145. She was also a talented flutist and music teacher.  The Boynton Beach Sorosis Club was affiliated with the Florida Federation of Women’s Clubs and the General Federation of Women’s Clubs. Its initial meeting was held 11 Nov 1964, and the group voted to dissolve on 13 April 1993. Annual activities included parade floats, tenth-grade high school students of the month, and fashion shows, as well as other volunteering and charitable activities.

Scope and Content Note: Chiefly programs for the Boynton Sorosis Club, with some photographs (1970s), yearbooks with member lists (1977-1979), photographs (1970s, 1999), and other ephemera.
