City Collects Over 500 Food Items for the Community Caring Center

The Boynton Beach City Library collected 559 food items as part of the Food for Fines program. As part of the initiative, cardholders were encouraged to donate canned goods and other food items to receive a reduction in their library fines. Those donations, along with two boxes of non-perishable food items from The Links at Boynton Beach Golf Course, were added to the Community Caring Center’s food pantry, located at 145 NE 4th Ave. The donations will help feed the hungry throughout the holiday season.

“The City’s partnership with the Community Caring Center in helping us to collect food is invaluable in our ability to provide for the children and their families at this time of the year,” said Sherry Johnson, executive director of the Community Caring Center. “The commitment on the part of City staff and those that help to support their programs to care for our children is commendable. We could not do what we do without their help throughout the year,” she said.

The Boynton Beach Community Caring Center is a local non-profit dedicated to creating a healthier community through nutrition education, social services and economic development programs.
