City Establishes Protocol for Removal of Dead Animals

The City of Boynton Beach has established a protocol for the removal of dead animals. Residents sighting animal carcasses should call the City’s non-emergency line at 561.732.8116 and report the location to the dispatcher on-call.

Animal carcasses will be picked up on roads, streets, right-of-ways (excluding I-95) and public property within the City of Boynton Beach’s city limits only. The contracted vendor will make every attempt to pick-up the remains within a 4 hour period; but no later than 24 hours. Prior to the disposal of any carcass, the vendor will check each animal for signs of owner identification (i.e. county license, rabies tag, owner identification tag or microchip). If identifiable, the vendor will transport the animal to the Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control. Unidentifiable and wild animals will be disposed in a manner compliant with established regulations of the Florida Department of Agriculture, Division of Animal Industry and Bureau of Animal Disease Control.
