- Vacant Storefront Art Program
Vacant Storefront Art Program
PROGRAM OVERVIEW & PURPOSE
The Commercial Vacant Storefront Art Program ("the Program") aims to enhance the visual appeal of empty street-level commercial properties in Boynton Beach. By partnering with property owners, this initiative offers an opportunity to adorn vacant storefronts with pre-approved graphic designs. These designs not only beautify the vacant spaces, but also promote available or underutilized rental opportunities within the city. Through this no cost, voluntary program, property owners will display approved artistic designs in their storefront window(s), thereby contributing to the revitalization of vacant areas.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
The Program is applicable to ground-level commercial properties in Boynton Beach with vacant storefront windows visible and accessible from prominent public rights-of-way.
APPLICATION AND INSTALLATION PROCESS
- Submission: Property owners or their authorized representatives must complete the application form, providing the storefront address and signing the required waiver. This application will be submitted to the City of Boynton Beach.
- Approval: Upon receiving the application, the City reviews and approves the proposed installation.
- Vendor Engagement: The City collaborates with pre-approved installation vendors to proceed with the storefront artwork. The selected vendor will contact the property owner or authorized representative to schedule a site visit for measurements.
- Design Mock-up: Based on the measurements, the installation vendor creates a mock-up or rendering of the proposed storefront design.
- Approval Process: Both the property owner and the City review and approve the design mock-up. This ensures alignment with the program's objectives and aesthetic standards.
- Installation: Post-approval, the installation vendor coordinates with the property owner to install the approved storefront artwork.
- Payment: Upon completion of the installation, the vendor submits an invoice to the City for payment. The City reviews, approves, and processes the invoice for payment.
By implementing the Commercial Vacant Storefront Program, the City aims to transform vacant storefronts into vibrant displays of art, thereby attracting attention, foot traffic, and potential business opportunities. This initiative not only beautifies the city but also fosters community engagement, economic growth, and urban revitalization.
