Borrowing Policy

The Boynton Beach City Library Borrowing Policy was revised in January 2021 to enhance your Library experience. A total of 30 (see note) Library items may be borrowed at one time, for a longer period of time. Loan periods, renewals and overdue fines vary by item. An unlimited number of holds may be placed on current Library materials and materials on order. Boynton Beach City Library does not charge late fines; however, replacement fees for lost and damaged items or components not returned will be charged to the library account. Items returned in the book drop, after business hours, are processed as returned the next business day. 

Patrons are asked to present their library card when checking out materials. You are responsible for all materials checked out on your library card. If you lose your library card please notify us immediately to prevent someone else from using it. A replacement fee may be charged for lost cards. Upon checking out, patrons will be given a printed list of borrowed materials and due dates. 

Note: The combined number of borrowed Library items cannot exceed 30 items. 

Books

• Selected Fees: Replacement fee charges for lost and damaged items or components not returned within a 7-day grace period of the final due date.

Audiobooks

• Number Allowed per Patron: 5 (see note)
• Loan Period in Days: 21
• Renewals (If not on hold): 3
• Selected Fees: Replacement fee charges for lost and damaged items or components not returned within a 7-day grace period of the final due date.

Cameras / Electronic Tablets

• Number Allowed per Patron: 1 (see note)
• Loan Period in Days: 21
• Renewals (If not on hold): 3
• Selected Fees: Replacement fee charges for lost and damaged items or components not returned within a 7-day grace period of the final due date.

Hotspots

• Number Allowed per Patron: 1 (see note)
• Loan Period in Days: 21

Magazines

• Number Allowed per Patron: Up to 30 (see note)

DVDs / Blu-Rays

• Number Allowed per Patron: 7 (see note)
• Loan Period in Days: 14
• Renewals (If not on hold): 2
• Selected Fees: Replacement fee charges for lost and damaged items or components not returned within a 7-day grace period of the final due date.

CDs

• Number Allowed per Patron: Up to 30 (see note)
• Loan Period in Days: 14
• Renewals (If not on hold): 2

Laptops

• Number Allowed per Patron: 1 (see note)
• Loan Period: 3 hours
• No automatic renewals
• Selected Fees: Replacement fee charges for items lost and damaged or parts not returned. Fine of $10/hour late in returning it.
