Virtual Zone Guidelines

To ensure a positive creative experience for all users, the following guidelines must be adhered to: 


Operating Hours 

Adult Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 2:00 pm; Saturday by appointment only. 

Teen Hours: Monday to Friday 3:00 pm to close; Saturday no appointment needed. 

 

Requirements

  • Users must be 13 years of age or older. 
  • Users must have a valid Boynton Beach City Library (BBCL) card. 
  • First-time users must undergo an initial orientation session. 

 

Rules

  • Unexpected guests are not allowed—all users must check out a lanyard from library staff each time before entering the Virtual Zone. 
  • Food and drink are strictly prohibited. 
  • Use of the Virtual Zone is limited to two hours per day. After two hours, users may be asked to vacate to accommodate the next party, though time may be extended if no one is waiting. 
  • Users must exit the Virtual Zone in the same condition as they found it, ensuring it is clean, tidy, lights are off, all equipment is properly stored, and the door is locked.  
  • The maximum occupancy of the Virtual Zone is limited to 5 persons. 
  • Minors (under 18 years old) and adults (18+ years old) may not occupy the Virtual Zone simultaneously. 
  • Users are considered a no-show if they are 15 minutes late to their appointment. 
  • The Virtual Zone is a creative space. Activities should be focused on the creative process. Other activities such as game playing, movie watching, internet browsing can be done on the computers in the Youth Library area. 
  • Report suspicious activity, theft, or damage to library property to a library staff member immediately. 
  • All users are required to check out at the Youth Desk and must return the corresponding tags/keys when they are finished. The tags/keys will not be considered returned, and the checkout process will not be completed, until the room has been inspected and cleared. 

 

Use of Equipment

  • Theft or damage of equipment will result in a minimum fine of $250 and loss of Virtual Zone privileges. 
  • Failure to adhere to any of the above rules and guidelines may result in the loss of Virtual Zone privileges. 
  • BBCL is not responsible if a project is missing, stolen, corrupted, destroyed, does not print correctly, or does not work. 
  • BBCL staff reserve the right to halt, delete, or disallow the creation of items that violate BBCL policy, including creating or accessing pornography or illegal materials. 
  • After users log off the computer, the memory will be cleared. Please be certain to save your work externally. Users must provide their own external storage.
