Banners & Temporary Signs Permit
Note: The following information is a summary. The city's complete regulations on signs is viewable within Gridics (Part III Land Development Regulations, Ch 4. Site Development Standards, Art. IV Sign Standards)
Banners / Feather Banners**
Standard Banners: ≤ 20 square feet for up to 90 days in a 12 month period.

- Universal Permit Application Form (Download)
- Submit 2 copies of artwork including dimensions.
- Submit 2 photos indicating location of banner, depicting dimensioned to scale setbacks.
- Indicate on application the dates of display.
Temporary For Sale Signs for multi-family or non-residential property**
≤ 16 square feet; ≤ 6 foot in height
- Universal Permit Application Form (Download)
- Submit 2 copies of artwork including all dimensions.
- Submit 2 site plans indicating location, depicting dimensioned to scale setbacks. The signs must be setback a minimum of 10 feet and shall not create any visual obstructions.
Temporary Leasing Signs**
≤ 32 square feet; ≤ 6 foot in height
- Universal Permit Application Form (Download)
- Submit 2 copies of artwork including all dimensions
- Submit 2 site plans indicating location depicting dimensioned to scale setbacks. The signs must be setback a minimum of 10 feet and shall not create any visual obstructions.
Wall Signs**
(sign face change only)
- Submit 2 copies of the following:
- Linear footage of the bay/building frontage.
- Dimensions and square footage of the proposed signage.
- Photos of the signage, preferably superimposed upon the structure.
- Indicate if other signs for the same tenant are currently on the building.
- Aggregate sign square footage allowed (based on tenant store frontage) and signage on walls proposed (& to remain) to demonstrate not exceeding the allowed square footage.
- Site plan showing tenant’s location.
Monument Sign**
- Submit 2 copies of photos with signage superimposed upon the structure.
- Submit 2 site plans indicating location depicting dimensioned to scale setbacks. The signs must be setback a minimum of 10 feet and shall not create any visual obstructions.
** Submittal requirements will include, but may not be limited to, the above listed documents.
Feather Banners
Size Requirements:
- 10’-6” total max height. 30” total max width. (see below diagram)
Number of Banners:
- One banner per business at any time.
- Along business or shopping center frontage: 1 per 300 ft. of linear store frontage
- If frontage less than 300 ft., no more than 1 banner
- If property has multiple frontages, 1 per 300 ft. of linear store frontage
- If placed within 5’ from building, 1 banner per business (not subject to 300 ft. restriction.) and it shall not obstruct pedestrian access.
Location (x):
- Min. setback of 10 feet from property line
- If landscape or buffer is less than 10ft, within existing landscape buffer, behind continuous hedge row
- Placed behind hedge row of landscape buffer. If no hedge, banner may only be placed within 5’ of building.
Prohibited:
- In 20’ site triangle of driveways or intersections
- Attached to landscaping materials
- In parking spaces
- Drive aisles
- On sidewalks within street right-of-way
Duration:
- 90 days consecutive display period
- Repeat display period allowed on first-come, first-served basis
- Request for repeat permit shall not be submitted in advance of 1 week after expiration of prior permit.
Other:
- $100 deposit (Permit must be returned by expiration of display for refund)
- $50/day penalty for display without permit
