The City of Boynton Beach Building Department urges its residents to be cautious and be sure to hire Florida licensed contractors and companies to handle post hurricane repairs, clean up, tree removal, etc. Following a disaster, we recognize the urgent need to make your home’s weather tight and safe, below is a list of post hurricane repairs which may or may not require permits. 

Repairs that requires a permit

  • Doors, Windows, and Skylight replacment
  • Electrical service restoration/replacement
  • Fence
  • HVAC equipment replacement
  • Roof replacement or substantial roof repairs
  • Structural repairs such as walls, trusses, balconies, and floors
  • Water Heater

Repairs that do not require a permit

  • Debris removal
  • Fence panel replacement
  • Minor cosmetic repairs (paint, carpet, etc.)
  • Temporary tarping of roofs and walls

Expedited Review Categories

  • Electrical Service Change Out (restoration/replacement)
  • Doors, Windows, & Garage Doors (one and two single family)
  • HVAC replacement (water damage related)
  • Roof replacment & repairs (nonstructural - such as truss repair)

Expedited Required Documents

Florida Licensed Contractors may do emergency repairs however they must apply for pemits the next business day (BBA 105.2.1)
Affidavits and pictures may be required
Door/Window Replacement
  • Floor Plan
  • Notice Of Acceptance (NOAs)
  • Size & Pressure Openings
  • Windload Chart (one and two single family homes may use this form)
Electrical Service Change Out
H.V.A.C
Roof
  • Notice Of Acceptance (NOAs)
  • Structural Drawings
  • Supporting Uplift Calculations (if required)
