All library rules and the library-wide Code of Conduct apply during one-on-one appointments. Patrons are expected to arrive on time and treat library staff and equipment with respect.
The trainer will recommend secure practices, such as creating strong passwords, enabling two-factor authentication, and recognizing phishing scams, to help patrons maintain their digital security. Patrons will be advised on how to identify secure websites and avoid sharing personal information on untrusted platforms.
While assistance may be provided for accessing or navigating accounts (e.g., email, social media, online applications), the trainer will not perform tasks such as resetting passwords, completing applications, or inputting personal details on behalf of the patron. The Public Technology Trainer will not save, store, or retain any patron's personal information, including but not limited to passwords, usernames, financial information, or private data
Conversations and assistance provided during one-on-one sessions are treated as confidential. However, patrons should be aware that library spaces are public and take steps to avoid discussing highly sensitive information in a shared environment.
The library and the Public Technology Trainer are not liable for any security incidents, data breaches, or issues resulting from actions taken during or after a training session. Patrons are responsible for following recommendations and ensuring their own security practices.
