Friends of the Library
The Friends of the Boynton Beach City Library (BBCL) is a nonprofit organization of people from diverse backgrounds and experiences who volunteer their time and talents in new ways to support the Library.
Ways to Serve in the Friends
Friends of the Library Bookstore
Friends members staff and manage the Friends of the Library Bookstore, a full store of books, DVDs, and other items for sale at discounted prices. This store is open all year and located by the main entrance of the Library.
Youth Programming Support
The Friends of the Library provides funding for the annual Summer Reading program, which encourages youth and teens to read through the summer with fun challenges and programs.
Brown Bag Speaker Series
Every January to March, the Friends of the Library host the Brown Bag Speaker Series. Speakers from various backgrounds come every Monday to present fun programs for library patrons. Past speakers have included artists, musicians, photographers, authors, and more.
Book-A-Year Endowment
A book endowment is an enduring and growing tribute to a special person or group. It can be started as a tribute to recognize a special birthday or anniversary, honor a retiring employee, or express sympathy. These gifts, provided from investment-generated income, allow the Friends to purchase books for the Library. An endowment can be started for a minimum of $500. Additional funds can be added to the endowment at any time. A commemorative bookplate is placed in each book that is purchased through an endowment acknowledging the honoree and the donor.
Planned Gifts
Planned gifts through your estate provide the Friends of the Boynton Beach City Library a meaningful way to support the Library's youth and adult programs and the purchase of books, DVDs, and CDs. Through advance planning with provisions in your will or trust, planned gifts can be made to the Friends of the Boynton Beach City Library, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
